Some say the soul is made of wind inaugurates Downs & Ross’s Tribeca apartment gallery, situated within its founders’ home on Reade Street. Attuned to perforations between public and private space, the exhibition is grounded in considerations of security, secrecy, and disappearance. The presentation comprises fifteen works created between 1988 and 2021 by Justin Chance, Christopher Culver, Liz Magor, Holt Quentel, and Douglas Watt. It derives its title from a line of Lisa Robertson’s 2009 poem “First Horizontal Spontaneous Restaurant.” Please contact the gallery to request a private appointment.
