The City of Transport, the industrial estate located on the outskirts of Castelló, is the starting point that Francesc Ruiz takes to speculate on a possible model of nomadic community that offers refuge and sanctuary to those bodies whose existence, for different reasons, defy the status quo. A common space where the means of production and distribution have been taken over and are used to secrete and disseminate emergency architectures and possible spaces for rescue and survivance.
Francesc Ruiz expands the realm of printed capitalism and its imagined communities, to offer a possibility of escape from within, not exempt from the fragility and vulnerability that signifies any world of paper and plastic. The commercial correspondence that arrives in our mailboxes, the newspapers and magazines that keep us informed, the vinyl and pvc iconosphere that covers our cities have been hacked to host instead information to start a journey through untravelled routes.
The artist’s work unfolds through referents such as comics, a transitive element that agglutinates dissident sensibilities and communities; the information architecture of newsstands, a place of reflection on the construction of national and regional identities; large format digital printing, a space for the creation of a new global landscape and contemporary logistics as the choreography of capital
