Jenny’s is pleased to present the debut Los Angeles solo exhibition of Australian artist Zac Segbedzi, comprised of six new works.
“Suicidal Oil Piglet” existed as a gallery in Melbourne, Australia between 2017 and 2018, co-run by Zac Segbedzi and the ambiguous participant / hipster Calum Lockey. The program and positioning of the gallery could be seen as in step with a regime of general “tastefulness” amongst the peripheral mid / emerging art economy.
The Art Deco building of the shuttered Melbourne gallery appears in the exhibition, as well as portraits of colleagues and (ex)-friends, and the entrance hallway of Jenny’s. We encourage you to read the text on the paintings.
Zac Segbedzi (b. 1991, Melbourne, Australia) currently lives and works in Los Angeles. He received his BFA at Victorian College of the Arts, Australia. Recent solo exhibitions include West Space, Melbourne; Bonny Poon, Paris; and Suicidal Oil Piglet, Melbourne. He has participated in group exhibitions at Jenny’s, London; Schloss, Oslo; Sangt Hipolyt, Berlin; and Interstate Projects, New York.
