Michael Van den Abeele

Michael Van den Abeele (b. 1974) lives in Brussels, Belgium. He uses a wide variety of media, with painting, texts and readings as the ones most exercised. Recurring motifs are dinosaurs, mum-mies, domestic animals, jeans and beds. Motifs that allow to think about and work with patterns, reproduction and resurrection, eros & thanatos and the economy as household & heartfelt.

Katja Mater

Katja Mater (b. 1979) lives and works between Brussels and Amsterdam. Katja Mater’s practice focuses on the parameters of photography and film from a meta-perspective, using them as non-transparent media. By creating hybrids between different optical media, installation and performance she documents something that often is positioned beyond our human ability to see. Interested in revealing a different or alternative (experience of) reality through capturing the areas where optical media hardly behave like the human eye, Mater mediates between time, space, perception and our understanding of them, she records events that simultaneously can and cannot be – holding midway between information and interpretation.

Emile Rubino

Emile Rubino (b.1992) lives and works in Brussels. Emile Rubino’s small scale pictures play with photography’s declarative register. Working through the semantic ‘in-betweens’ of picture-ma-king and its discourses, he directs our attention towards the photograph as both an object and a depiction — a capacious container in spite of its inherently tenuous materiality. By drawing out their relationship to care and labor, his photographs, which often involve a mix of analogue and digital processes, devise a contrived relationship to the idea of ‘the photographic’ in order to address its social ramifications.

Miet Warlop

Miet Warlop (b. 1978) is a Belgian visual artist born in Torhout. She lives and works between Ghent and Brussels. Miet Warlop holds a master degree in Visual Arts from KASK, Ghent. She explore different possibility both in visual arts as in theatre context. In most of her works, scenography, costumes, props and characters are closely interwoven and merged together. In addition to her performance work for theatre venues, Miet Warlop has created and presented an ever-growing cycle of visual art performances, interventions and live installations. In 2015 she has an exhibition project in KIOSK (Ghent) titled Crumbling Down the Circle of my Iconoclasm.
