In Tom, Nancy Lupo re-routes the iceberg fantasia of Disko into a scenario in which longing for the sublime is interrupted by disappearance, logistics, and murky human drama. Named after her Airbnb host in Disko Bay, Greenland, Tom is a composite—someone, anyone, no one. The exhibition extends Disko (Kunstverein Kevin, Vienna, September 13–November 15, 2025), in which Lupo sketched her ambiguous pull toward Greenland— its enchanted landscape shadowed by geopolitical anxiety, power grabs, and extractivist mentalities.
