The work of Jean-Charles de Quillacq (*1979, F) consists mainly of casts of fragments of male bodies and limp-looking tubular structures. Everyday objects also appear, such as shoes and tables, as well as materials and techniques that receive little attention on an aesthetic level: plastic corroded with acetone or epoxy resin mixed with various bodily fluids. His classicist exhibitions are usually characterised by a kind of cool eroticism and sparse fetishism. All of these contradictory characteristics challenge common notions of masculinity. For the Salle Poma, de Quillacq continues this exploration with a new group of works based on the artistic concept of “morbidezza” (softness of the body with positive connotations).
