Gern en Regalia is delighted to present Puccini’s Fire, an exhibition of new work by Irina Jasnowski Pascual opening Saturday, August 6, 4-8pm. Regular gallery hours are Sun – Sun 1-6pm and by appointment at 246 East 4th Street, NY 10009.
Puccini’s Plasma;
A theatrical production life faux feed moving
image etching

(The scene where the script comes to life through fire)
spiraling to a sentient dialogue between
the less acclaimed characters in every major
motion picture never made
Plasma cutting your hair salon does not have
a liquor license to kill a movie that was once
an etching by Alfred Durer
but is now many pieces of sculptures made out
of 21st century debris and rubble
Glass that will eventually shatter creates shadows
that will never fade
Puccini’s plasma a smoothie for the average opera
singer to alleviate the costal muscles
Puccini will not charge you
for the entrepreneurial business venture
because his libretto provides a narrow path out
of which to exit and enter
Free electrons at the rally for freeing even more
electrons, chaos among electrons collisions
resulting in televised images of their free electron
revolution

Irina Jasnowski Pascual lives and works between New York City and Brussels, BE. She graduated from The Cooper Union School of Art in New York in 2017. Her studio practice extends into video and performance through various collaborations. In June 2022 she premiered Operazione Cospirazione, a work of sonic theater in dialogue with Jos de Gruyter and Harald Thys at at C-Mine in Genk, BE. In 2021 she premiered a performance which she directed and co-produced with Tyler Berrier for Les Urbaines Festival in Lausanne, Switzerland and debuted her first full-length feature film, Mystical Movie at Kunsthal Extra City in Belgium and at Spectacle Theater in Brooklyn, New York. Her sculptural exhibitions are theatrical audio visual and kinetic installations with figurative sculptures as stand-ins for actors.
Solo Exhibitions include: Sonic Prolapse at Kai Matsumiya, Manhattan, NY (2021); Set Ups: Lighting for Character Dangling Over Void at Interstate Projects, Brooklyn NY (2018). Suicidio Sociale at Etablissement d’en Face Brussels, BE. In 2021 Irina was International Resident at AAIR/Morpho in Antwerp, Belgium.
