L21 is poised to undergo a radical reconfiguration, transforming itself into a hybridized domestic space—a site where the boundaries between public and private, exhibition and habitation, dissolve into a fluid, experimental continuum. This metamorphosis will unfold across the gallery’s two out of three floors, creating an environment that challenges conventional notions of how contemporary art is presented and experienced.
This ambitious project brings together an expansive selection of works from more than 50 artists, each of whom has contributed to the evolving narrative of L21. These artists, representing both the gallery’s past, present and future. It will be joined by a curated selection of works from the Colección Noviembre, the private collection of Oscar Florit and Paz Vidal. The inclusion of these pieces will add a layer of personal history and intimacy, further blurring the lines between the public gallery and the private collection, the curated and the lived-in.
What truly sets this exhibition apart is its embrace of impermanence and transformation. Rather than presenting a static array of works, L21 will become a space in perpetual motion, with installations, performances, and artworks continually shifting, evolving, and interacting with one another. This fluidity will foster a living dialogue within the space, where each visitor’s experience is unique, shaped by the moment in time they enter. It will be a place of ongoing discovery, where the act of curation is not an endpoint but a continuous process of reimagining and recontextualizing.
The diverse range of mediums on display—from painting and sculpture to video, installation, and performance—will contribute to a rich, multi-layered experience that engages all the senses. These mediums will not exist in isolation; they will intermingle and converse, creating a dynamic interplay of forms and ideas. The gallery will also host a series of workshops designed to deepen the visitor’s engagement, offering opportunities to explore the creative process firsthand. These workshops will further blur the distinctions between artist and audience, creator and observer, making the gallery a site of shared creativity and experimentation.
The exhibition will extend through to the 4th of January, encompassing a period of both reflection and renewal. Throughout this time, L21 will maintain its characteristic blend of seriousness and playfulness—a space where intellectual rigor meets the joy of discovery, where the boundaries of contemporary art are constantly being tested and expanded.
