The two works installed in Galerie Antoine Levi’s booth at Frieze London are added to a series of sculptures that seek to draw upon and thrive the mysterious imagery of the artist’s recent 16 mm film Ahold of Get the Things To (2014). As in previous cases, these pieces are loaded with references to the story’s after-animal-named characters and feature a number of props that seem extracted from the movie.
This time, furthermore, the project was shaped by a continued dialogue with the two collaborating manufacturers: a climbing hold shaper and a sail maker. Adapting their contributions to each other’s techniques – of uneven properties and for dissimilar conditions – gradually grew into a complicated challenge, which resulted in a strange combination of materials and physical tensions.
