Rolando Anselmi is thrilled to present the first solo show by the Danish artist Asger Dybvad Larsen (1990, DK) in its project space in Rome. Together with the last cycle works, there will be presented the recent monograph dedicated to the artist and curated by Marie Nipper, Aarhus Museum and Tate Liverpool curator. The main focus of Asger Dybvad Larsen is a persistent investigation into the media of painting and its materiality. In a constant dialogue with art history, especially postwar minimalist and conceptual strategies, he reinterprets the traditional materials of paintings: canvas, pigment and stretchers. His point of departure is an interest in the connection between the planned concept and the intuitive process.
Asger Dybvad Larsen, born in 1990, lives and works in Aarhus, Denmark. He studied at BGK – Billedkunstnerisk Grundkursus and Kunsthøjskolen på Ærø. Since 2012 he is an attending student at Jutland Art Academy in Aarhus.
