Capsule Shanghai is pleased to present “Spring Antidote” at Blanc Art Space, Beijing from March 26th to May 14th, 2022. Two groups of works will rotate featuring Cai Zebin, Daniel Chen, Sarah Faux, Gao Yuan, Adrian Geller, Elizabeth Jaeger, Aki Kondo, Kong Lingnan, Maya Kramer, Liao Wen, Mevlana Lipp, Douglas Rieger, Curtis Talwst Santiago, Alessandro Teoldi and Alice Wang.

“Spring Antidote” opens parallel worlds for viewers to wander during these exceptional times as a warmer spring brings new challenges for us all. Here is a remedy for viewers as each artwork is an encapsulated antidote that distills the artist’s own experience of combating difficulties and celebrating life. Though uncertainty and threats linger in and out of view, we promise a space where creativity remains sources of comfort and inspiration in our community.

This diverse group of works showcases the breadth of the gallery’s program and artist’s unique working processes. In maintaining the intention of the gallery’s opening in late 2016 in Shanghai, Capsule continues to work with emerging artists pushing the boundaries of contemporary art and fostering trans-national and trans-regional links. By bringing this special exhibition to Beijing, we look forward to expanding the dialogue with the artists and connecting with old and new friends and colleagues.

Established in late 2016, Capsule Shanghai is based in Shanghai’s central Xuhui District. Situated on the first floor of a picturesque 1930s garden house in the idyllic greenery of the former French Concession, the gallery works primarily with emerging artists who push the boundaries of contemporary art. The gallery’s special focus is on artists who have personally and professionally migrated between regions, creating unique trans-national and trans-regional links.

From its inception, Capsule Shanghai sought to work with artists from China or artists who have established a professional foothold in the country. The gallery continues to work with emerging contemporary artists destined for the international scene, often presenting their work for the first time in China and abroad, such as Alice Wang, Gao Yuan, Leelee Chan, Feng Chen, Huang Hai-Hsin, Sarah Faux, Ivy Haldeman, Maya Kramer, Cai Zebin, Wang Haiyang and Douglas Rieger.

The gallery participates in major international fairs such as Artissima, Turin; Liste, Basel; Paris Internationale, Paris; Frieze New York, NY; Art Basel in Hong Kong; and West Bund Art & Design, Shanghai.
