Entrée is proud to present the solo exhibition wander / wonder with new works by Ida Wieth. As an artist in residency working with the medium of glass at S12, Wieth has developed pieces which evolves around wanderings as a phenomenon in both a literal and metaphorical sense, reflecting on imprints, expressions and impressions.

Contemplating, is thus a main theme of the project, arising from the artists own drifting in and around Bergen this fall. She has traced and documented her routes, and meticulously transferred these records onto glass sheets using found organic materials collected on her paths. Moss, sand, weeds and flowers have left multiple kinds of residues representing and drawing direct lines to its original location. Layered into casted solid cylinders, these “archived maps” now seem to float, whilst at the same time appear as excavated archaeological samples.

Other works challenge the fragility, transparency as well as the elitist perceptions of glass. Blown and stretched glass tubes, imprinted with unexpected elements such as iron oxides, are resting up against the walls of the gallery. These hollow and delicate tubes are bundled together, facing us in a vertical manner which are contributing to a whole other emotional encounter. In its essence, these layered compositions carry elements and tissues of everything around us, reflecting upon how we wander, wonder and move through time and place.

Ida Wieth (b.1983, Copenhagen) works from her studio in Aarhus, Denmark. Wieth achieved a Master of Fine Art from Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland (2009) and studied at Kosta Glass School in Sweden (2002-2005). Most recently her work has been included in the exhibitions Earth, Wind, Fire, Water, Galleri F 15, Moss, Norway, Sculpture – Texture – Figurines, Sophienholm, Denmark and Reach (solo show), Officinet, Copenhagen, Denmark.
