Sommer Contemporary Art is pleased to announce the opening of Tiny Hands, a group exhibition curated by gallery artist Naama Arad. The exhibition presents artworks that reflect upon relationships between a body and an object. In this process of reflection fixed values and notions are smudged to a point where the concept of “human” stretches and bends. The participating artists use a variety of media and materials in order to blend categories and loosen divisions between things in the world.
Unlike the planet, art has always belonged to the human. Like language, it cannot be read outside of the cultural. This exhibition aims to project a psychological question onto culture. It pauses on little moments of intimacy and pleasure in an attempt to form relationships and highlight connections. In this age of technocratic reality, the human is reduced to personal data and devoured by an algorithm. As we remain passive in the face of a techno-industry and raging global economy, art could be an opportunity to make fun of ourselves.
