‘The End of Summer’ is the title of a 1961 film directed by Yasujirō Ozu. The film was his penultimate.
There are numerous ways one could approach the magnitude and delicate power of Ozu’s films. This exhibition was inspired by his movies but also by the epitaph engraved on the tombstone he shares with his mother, which bears no name and where only one word appears: ‘Mu’ meaning ‘Nothingness’.
In a world where one is bombarded with images, sounds and colours, one can lose sight of the fact that void completes the whole.
