Entrée is excited to present Sveinung Rudjord Unneland’s exhibition NA, consisting of a new body of works which are part of his long-term exploration of the painting and its framework conditions. The works have been created through formal investigations, but assume an allegorical character. Unneland has apparently cut contact with the recognisable. As a substitute, we are invited to approach the possibility of new beginnings; where painting extends beyond the canvas into space. An interior has been developed especially for the occasion – an invitation to take a seat and stay awhile.
The exhibition will house a series of readings, improvisational music and dialogues where the common denominator is an interest in expressions that lie outside the immediately understood and measurable.
Sveinung Rudjord Unneland’s (b.1981, Farsund) work places itself somewhere between architecture, sculpture and social practice, where his work with painting forms a core. In his Ph.D. project (completed 2023, KMD) he examined, among other things, the consequences of structural and architectural changes linked to art education. Unneland has his education from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bergen and Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weissensee. Among other things, he is one of the initiators of The Unfinished Institution in Laksevåg, and the gallery Joy Forum. His work has been shown in a number of places, including Kunstnerforbundet in Oslo, Kristiansand Kunsthall, Hordaland Kunstsenter, Entrée (first time in 2011), LNM, KODE and Kunstnernes Hus.
