A guided tour of Saxo Bank’s headquarters in Copenhagen reveals the symbolic and literal wealth of artworks and other exhibits acquired by the firm to furnish its offices and inspire and motivate its employees.
The ‘Saxo Collection’ is a prime example of a corporate art collection, a powerful tool to embody and project the values of a company, internally as well as to the outside world. Art is deployed to contaminate the world of finance with its ambitious ideas, and vice-versa.

Hannibal Andersen is a Copenhagen-based visual artist who creates images, objects, interventions and performances addressing the role of the economy in society. Exploring themes such as money, debt, finance, property relations and the implications of relentless privatization, his works inquire wryly into the authority, limitlessness, and invisible power of capital.
Andersen has exhibited, among others, at Kunsthal Charlottenborg in Copenhagen, P.E.T. Projects in Athens, and The National Museum of 21st Century Arts in Rome. He is currently an artist-in-residence at the International Studio and Curatorial Program (ISCP) in New York City, and his recent work ‘The Abstract Expression of Privatization’ is on display in Copenhagen until March 2024.
Paola Paleari (b. 1984) is an independent Italian writer, editor, and curator based in Copenhagen. She co-curated the Contemporary Art Program 2021-2022 at Vestjyllands Kunstpavillon and has directed the exhibition platform JIR SANDEL since 2018. She writes extensively about contemporary art and between 2013 and 2018 she covered the position of Deputy Editor at YET magazine. Her main area of interest is the photographic language and its relations with contemporary visual culture and art practices. She is also interested in the intersection between critical and creative writing and often intertwines art criticism with other forms of storytelling.
