Future Gallery is proud to present Robuche – “Travelling without moving”. The Amsterdam based duo Javier Rodriguez and Lou Bouche present a new body of work consisting of digital paintings and collages in an immersive gallery (installation) experience. This exhibition dissects the artists’ approach to the construction of images. Making visible the possibilities of fragmented painting through the use of digital techniques where the same object is represented in different scales, contexts and backgrounds.
Exploring transferences between physical and virtual. Robuche experiments with painting and its production tools, creating a porous and expansive creative space. Always aiming for a cross-pollination of techniques, technologies and images.
Through these abstractions, Robuche proposes new relations between the viewers and their surroundings. Travelling without moving embraces the notion of sampling as an impermanent practice, as an illusive notion where no version is correct, as the potential for the infinite transformation of the artwork. Seeing art as remix of reality, they reconfigure, cut-up, collage fragments, reviving lost information from images that hyper-saturate our society and our eye. Using the digital collage to illustrate the way we edit, the way we think.
