Se una notte d’inverno un viaggiatore (If on a winter’s night a traveller) is the title that will accompany the works done by Martin Lukáč for his solo show at THE COURT. Calvino’s work, translated into visual form by the artist, is to be understood in its essence as a meta-novel and for this it becomes a tautological operation on Lukáč ‘s own work. The artist decides to reflect on his singular way of making paintings starting from patterns (pictorial rituals?) which are almost the same every time. Each work therefore starts from a strict primary geometric setting to free itself in its unconscious gestures and arrive at surprising results every time. The finished artwork must give the artist something more. It must surprise itself in presenting itself to the world. The work of Martin Lukáč is then established in the rooms of THE COURT in a series of continuous Deja vu that capture the attention and carry the observer to new lands or better new stories to tell and rebuild for the soul of the visitor. If this novel by Calvino is to be understood as a pure pleasure for reading, according to the writer, this of Lukáč must be thought as an intense reflection on the pleasure of painting.
