In Silver Ships, matter seems to be sustained in a contained breath. Structure and surface coexist in a state of constant friction, without hierarchies or fixed function. The technical fabric—designed to protect, insulate, and withstand the elements—loses its original purpose when displaced into the Antiguo Depósito de Aguas. The architecture, designed to contain water and pressure, shares this same condition of loss. Both operate from a shared absence.
The exhibition does not propose an order or a linear reading. It is presented as a set of interrelated systems, where each sculpture acts as a variation within the same field of forces. Metal and fabric do not subordinate one another: at times the rod directs the course; at others, the fabric interrupts it, diverts it, or transforms it. Form emerges in this unstable exchange.
The pieces are grouped into three typologies, without hierarchical progression. The works resting on the floor generate open frameworks, where weight is distributed without being fully resolved. The pieces connected to the columns extend the geometry of the Antiguo Depósito de Aguas and reinforce its lines of tension. The suspended sculptures dispense with a stable base and depend on a minimal economy of means, where each anchoring point is decisive. In all cases, the energy remains active, silent, under load.
The silver surface and its dark reverse do not function as decorative contrast, but as a structural device. The skin does not cover: it creates tension. Interior and exterior become indistinguishable, and with them, the idea of protection. Form becomes visible where control is interrupted.
Silver Ships does not seek balance or formal closure: it keeps tension in operation. Each piece sustains its own logic and continues to act beyond function, proposing a space in which matter does not rest, but persists, resists, and continues under the pressure that sustains it.
