In Birds of Paradise, Karim Boumjimar fills the rooms of Viborg Kunsthal with a constellation of ceramic sculptures, drawings, and spatial interventions that connect animal dis- play, sexuality, and identity.
With newly created works of varying scale and compositions: large and small ceramic works, vivid watercolours and an evocative video work, Boumjimar unfolds a sensual and layered universe in the main wing.
Inspired by cruising parks and hidden ecosystems, the exhibition Birds of Paradise ex- plores the body as both bird and landscape; fluid, hybrid and alive in a constant state of transformation and desire.
About the artist
Karim Boumjimar (b. 1998) graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2025 and holds a BFA from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London. Boumjimar works with performance, painting, sculpture, installation and drawing.
Karim Boumjimar has exhibited at O–Overgaden Institute for Contemporary Art, Copenha- gen (2025), CFHILL, Stockholm (2025), PoriGalleria–Pori Kunstmuseum, Pori (2025), and Art Hub Copenhagen (2021). His group exhibitions include presentations at Liljevalchs Konsthall, Stockholm (2026), Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Copenhagen (2025), TINA Gallery, London (2025), Kunsthalle Helsinki (2025), and Centro de Arte La Panera, Lleida (2023). Boumjimar’s works are represented in the collections of Pori Kunstmuseum, the Miettinen Collection, AMOCA Wales Collection and Fondazione Fiera Milano.
