Joanna Woś’s practice oscillates between the realm of the subcon-scious and the meticulously analyzed visual layers of historical paint-ings, often drawing from them and applying past symbolism to bring to the fore notions of repression, shame and emotional trauma. Her im-ages rest disquietingly on the border where parallel realities interpen-etrate amidst an air of desperation, raising questions about love and death, desire, longing and loneliness.
Joanna Woś (b. 1991) – lives and works in Vienna. Studied at Acade-my of Art and Design in Wroclaw (2016-2018). She currently studies at the Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien in the class of Daniel Rich-ter (2018-present).
