Carbon Copy is an English term that originally referred to the carbon paper once used to produce simultaneous copies when typing or writing by hand. In email, the abbreviation CC has been retained to indicate that someone receives a copy of the message. CC is pronounced /ziː/ /ziː/ in English and /siː/ /siː/ in Basque. Ze ze. Sí sí. Every phonetic calque, every translation, attempt at replication, or transcription introduces a deviation and, with it, the possibility of a movement of opening, unfolding, or expansion.
Ibon Landa Amutxategi (Vitoria, 1994) lives and works in Bilbao. His practice is grounded in an interest in bringing materials toward trembling, unstable finishes, in anticipation of a surprising environment. To this end, he works with the weight that the image carries within space through material.
