Halcyon and On and On brings together the work of six artists all using the medium of paint to trouble the consumption of contemporary and historical images. The included works all draw upon traditional modes of representation but the images rendered are complicated by the relationship between paint and surface. All intimately scaled, the paintings in Halcyon and On and On foreground the tension between mood, composition, and materiality to closely look at the familiar made strange.
