To kick off the Kunstraum München’s 50th anniversary in 2023, book designer and researcher Hagen Verleger (Berlin) explores the great wealth of material in the Kr. archive in a curated and annotated form. The exhibition links the archive as content with the archive as a place where history is made. »Kr. Inventory« is a survey, a stocktaking, an inventory (lat. inventarium, »the totality of what has been found«) in 7 chapters or modules, which take shape on the ground floor, second storey, and staircase of the exhibition building. In an interplay between museum and archival conventions, the contents of the archive are transferred from the storage space to the exhibition space, and the history(ies) of the institution simultaneously unfolds (its artists, networks, spaces, and publications) and is consciously eluded. What do the space of the archive and its gaps, weight, or list of names reveal? What do material and narrative frameworks reveal? What happens between the exhibition of an archive and its use?

The exhibition was created in close exchange with the archive group of the Kr., consisting of board members Patricia Drück, Lena von Geyso, Nina Holm, Luise Horn, Lennart Laule, Cora Piantoni, Friederike Schuler and Alexander Steig.
