Window Project presents “Fiat”, – a solo exhibition of Giorgi Chkheidze. Fiat is a Latin word meaning “a command or act of will that creates something without or as if without further effort”.

The exhibition features seven monumental works from the series of “Fiat”. The empty surface of the canvas becomes a metaphor for the emptiness of consciousness. In the meditative process of creativity, the colour pours from the unconscious and creates visual icons of “non-thought”.

A trace of form appears in the chaos, revealing an a priori, time-space order. On the monochromatic surfaces of the canvas – in non-being, “a being” begins to be born. Small works from the series “unknown, unknown” appear as points of visual gravity and become a connecting element of the exposition.

Interactive plasticine sculptures are the culmination of form creation. The visitor of the exhibition is involved in the creative process. A person fixes their conscious presence through an unconscious impact on the deformable body of a plasticine sculpture.

Giorgi Chkheidze’s creative catalyst was his visit to New York, Donald Judd, Lee Ufan and Minimalism. Inspired by Eastern philosophy, his artistic practice is focused not so much on the minimalist result but on the minimal co-presence of the conscious. For Chkheidze, “artistic results” are some visual exercise created by activated unconsciousness. In this way, he establishes his own identity. The visitor who comes to the exhibition will become a witness and participant in this process.
