‘Pollinators’ is the second solo exhibition by Fleur De Roeck at Tatjana Pieters. Spontaneous and intuitive, De Roeck’s work looks cheerful and optimistic, but is a disguise of a more sombre personal reality. The chosen form of expression is not always fixed and depends on time, space and chance. Her work connects more with the 20th century than with what came after. It shows courage to relate to art history in this way. She does not need to be fashionable, and that gives her works a strong personality.

“In ‘Pollinators’, Fleur De Roeck focuses on the theme of pollination. The artworks highlight the role of pollinators such as bees and humming- birds in plant reproduction and the preservation of biodiversity. De Roeck uses recurring symbols and shapes, such as moons, eggs, waterfalls and eyes, which she combines with human constructions such as stairs and roads to create utopian landscapes. Her work invites us to dream of a world where nature and society are in harmony.

De Roeck’s imagery can be described as a puzzle of several layers and a collage of time and accumulation, alternating rationality and coinci- dence. The results are inner and outer worlds united that invite the viewer to dream, be optimistic and open ourselves to the flow of life, letting the wave guide us. Unconsciously, her works increase our social awareness about the importance of integrating nature (and beautiful things) into our society. This series of works is also a personal reflection of De Roeck’s search for home and what being home means. Her work reflects the esoteric approach, exploring the hidden aspects of reality and the essence of things.

With ‘Pollinators’, De Roeck shows an act of rebellion against the prevailing pessimism and negativity on the planet and invites us to embrace nature and integrate it into our society. The work also shows the importance of pollinators and calls for awareness around their endangered status. As an artist, De Roeck takes us on a journey through her vision and our own consciousness, inviting us to dream of a future where nature and society are in harmony. Tatjana Pieters invites you to come and discover Fleur De Roeck’s exhibition ‘Pollinators’ and be immersed in her utopian worlds and message of hope and awareness.”
