Fabio Viscogliosi (France, 1965) is a multifaceted artist. Painter, musician and writer, his influences come from various fields such as comics, literature, cinema, music and graphic design.
The exhibition “Grenouille Vagabonde” (hobo frog) presents a selection of fifteen new works that encapsulate the great topics of this tireless creator. In this show, you can see representations of domestic environments, everyday objects and humanized animals, recurring themes in his trajectory. Each artwork exposes the poetic gaze as well as the point of nostalgia that characterize his paintings, transporting the viewer to a world where the ordinary becomes extraordinary.
The character of the hobo frog is a reflection of the classic figure of the tramp in cinema, evoking iconic characters such as those played by Buster Keaton and Charles Chaplin. At the same time, this figure connects with the animals of traditional fables, those that wander and embark on symbolic adventures. Viscogliosi’s wandering frog thus becomes an allegory that combines humor, reflection and social criticism.
The works in this exhibition are a testimony to the artist’s ability to transform the everyday into art, and an invitation to explore the multiple layers of meaning that inhabit them.
