“The poet should be as sensitive as an aching tooth.” 1 Assembly Point is delighted to present an exhibition of new work by Charlie Godet Thomas.Dim Lit presents the viewer with an environment of unoccupied spaces, littered with debris the built environment announces through broken signs; “CASH or GO!” and “COLD COLDER OLD OLDER”, the statements ringing out across the landscape unheard. Elsewhere, wind chimes turn silent circles waiting patiently for the air to move them into song, into speech, without reprieve. What has been lost, and what do we stand to lose in amongst the business and the busyness, of everyday life? 31)   Anna Swir, Talking to my Body, trans. Charlie Godet Thomas is a British-Bermudian artist whose work employs a wide range of approaches including writing, painting, sculpture, assemblage, photography sound and video. His work is concerned with the connections between visual art and literature, the act of writing, the autobiographical, the tragic and the humorous. His work is summoned from unlikely places such as bookbinding processes, street signage, funereal foam letters and the language of medical packaging.
