Joségarcía ,mx presents its first exhibition: By Boat (Farewell). With which, José García Torres (founder Proyectos Monclova) inaugurates his new galley. The show will be presented in the gallery from October 13th until November 28th 2015.

By Boat (Farewell) is an exhibition envisioned by Adam Carr about loss, time and survival. Inspired by the history of José Salvador Alvarenga, a Salvadoran fisherman who sailed from the coast of Chiapas, Mexico and after being diverted from his route, sailed adrift for 5,500 miles until, 13 months later, the wind took him back to the mainland.

As explained by Adam Carr, the voyage, and in particular, the boat, has been a recurring theme in the visual arts for centuries, mainly used to represent romance, longing and the desire to escape, discover and renew. By Boat (Farewell) takes these ideas from a contemporary viewpoint, through art pieces by different international artists, some of which are represented by the gallery.

The artists who take part in the exhibition are: Bas Jan Ader, Sïan Rees Astley, Nina Beier, Camille Blatrix, Chris Burden, Daniel Gustav Cramer, Tim Foxon, Ryan Gander, Christian Jankowski, Mario García Torres, On Kawara, Joanathan Monk, Ahmer Ögüt, Amalia Pica, Dan Rees, Sung Tieu, Tania Pérez Córdova and  Jesse Wine.

Adam Carr is an internationally renowned curator and writer, currently working in the art galley MOSTYIN in Wales. He has organized numerous exhibitions throughout the world, including Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, U.S., Lithuania and England. He has been guest curator in organizations such as Castello di Rivolli, Museum of Contemporary Art in Italy, and the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London.  Moreover, he has worked for artists like Nina Beier, Daniel Buren, Claire Fontaine, Simon Fujiwara, Ryan Gander, Anette Klem, Jonathan Monk, Tris Vonna-Michell, Danh Vo and Lawrence Weiner,  among others.
