I am not afraid at Cordova in Barcelona is Bruno Zhu’s first solo presentation in Spain. An oversized wrist watch is running in reverse as if time is turning back. Encased in a midnight blue satin shell with matching wristbands, the watch is on display in the office, hung by the desk where Cordova’s team works. The main exhibition space is treated with a series of blue gingham and orange stars plastered onto every surface, from the ceiling to the floor. The viewer must traverse it in order to see the central piece.
Bruno Zhu (b.1991, Portugal) is an artist living and working between Amsterdam and Viseu. Recent projects were presented at HALLE FÜR KUNST Steiermark in Graz, Yaby in Madrid and UKS in Oslo. Zhu is a member of A Maior, an exhibition program set in a home goods and clothing store in Viseu.
