Hot-water-bottle filled and sealed. Used to provide warmth, typically while in bed. When applied to a specific part of the body as the main section of a car or aircraft.
A-comb toothed dispersion device used for styling, cleaning and managing, in order to roll over or break at the crest, as a wave.
Crutch transfers legs, legging, and leg weight to the upper body; a long stick with a crosspiece at the top supporting reassurance in difficult times.
Wrench open-ended spanner for grip and mechanical advantage, in turning objects distressed by departure.
Amy Brener (b. 1982 in Victoria, BC) lives and works in New York. She was included in Greater New York 2015 at MoMA PS1. Her work has exhibited internationally at institutions and galleries such as Galerie Pact in Paris, Wentrup Gallery in Berlin, Derek Eller Gallery and the Katonah Museum of Art in New York, Julius Caesar in Chicago, Susan Hobbs Gallery in Toronto and the MacLaren Art Centre in Barrie, Ontario. Brener received the NYFA Fellowship for Crafts/Sculpture in 2015, attended Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 2011, and graduated with an MFA in Sculpture from Hunter College in 2010. Her work has been featured in a wide variety of publications including CURA, The New York Times, Hyperallergic, V Magazine, The Brooklyn Rail, artnet News, Time Out New York and Artsy.
Lucas Blalock (b. 1978) is an artist originally from Asheville, North Carolina who lives and works in Brooklyn. Solo exhibitions include Low Comedy and Id, Ed, Ad, Od, both at Ramiken Crucible, New York, A Farmer’s Knowledge at Rodolphe Janssen, Brussels, Late Work at White Flag Projects, St. Louis, and Inside the White Cube at White Cube in London. Recent group exhibitions include You are Looking At Something That Never Occurred, Zabludovicz Collection, London, Ordinary Pictures, Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, MN, For the Love of Things: Still Life, Albright Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo, NY, and An Ocean of Images: New Photography 2015, Museum of Modern Art, New York. Blalock has also published a number of artist books including Towards a Warm Math (Hassla, 2011), Windows Mirrors Tabletops (Morel, 2013), Inside the White Cub (Peradam, 2014) and Making Memeries (SPBH, 2016). He is active as a writer and has contributed interviews and essays to a number of periodicals including IMA (Japan), Aperture, Foam, Mousse, and Objectiv.
