Working with multiple layered references, symbols, popular culture and on-going collaborations with other artists, Adriana Lara creates objects, installations, videos, performances and events where readability is split and representation therefore changes in direction.

The formal cause in Adriana Lara’s work acts as an idea that rotates spirally between determination and space. Shapes in this manner suggest side views for a fragmented representation, where both conventions and possibilities coexist, adaptability of form surpassing its own logic.

The reference embedded in the title of the exhibition draws attention to an industry, in this case an art industry that can either be evoked through ‘Het product’ or undermined by the series of products she proposes.

‘Het product’ in Komplot is the first solo presentation of Adriana Lara in Belgium and is coproduced by Copenhagen Art Festival where it will present a second moment in August 2015.

Adriana Lara was born in Mexico City in 1978, where she lives and works. She works in parallel for Perros Negros, a curatorial collective co-founded by her in 2003 as editor of the yearly fanzine Pazmaker. Her work has been recently shown in the following exhibitions: Underlying Patterns: Tragedy and Comedy where improvisations at first, Algus Greenspon, New York, (solo, 2015), Less is More at 21er Haus, Vienna (solo, 2014), Let’s Not Jump Into Concrete, Independenza, Rome (solo, 2014); Marrakech Biennale 5 (2014); Documenta 13, Kassel (2012); S.S.O.R., Kunsthalle Basel (solo, 2012); Scryyns and Interesting Theories, Air de Paris, Paris (solo, 2012), La Pintura (Lasser) Moderna, House of Gaga, Mexico City, Mexico (solo, 2011).
