The duo exhibition “Everything Beautiful Bleeds First” by Ádám Dallos and Orsi Nyíri is taking place in the industrial spaces of Artus in Budapest and presents the connections between the two painting positions.
Orsi Nyíri’s latest series presents the four seasons in a kind of “Spotify Wrapped” atmosphere: each picture is a personal interpretation of a season, such as spring, which was inspired by the fantasy name “pink pilates princess strut pop”. In her paintings, young girls appear in surreal situations, such as in winter with diamond teeth, during a bank robbery, skating on the hood of a car or in spring in leopard-print pants, tearing each other’s hair as twins, in moonwalking shoes.
Ádám Dallos’ 2024 series of “Butterfly boys” was inspired by the Greek painter Yannis Tsarouchis’ paintings of naked boys with butterfly wings painted in the 1960s. In Dallos’ mythologically inspired paintings, hybrid creatures mingle with each other, like a Minotaur kissing a peacock with a stiff penis in front of a stormy sea, or in another painting, skinned shark heads fight each other for the favors of a butterfly-boy with green membrane wings.
Orsi Nyiri (1995) lives in Budapest and graduated from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts in 2023. She is represented by Einspach&Czapolai Fine Art, and was featured in Q-Contemporary in Budapest in 2023 and in M21 Gallery in Pécs in 2025.
Ádám Dallos (1986) lives in Cologne and Budapest. He has exhibited at, among others, the Krems Kunsthalle, the Ludwig Museum in Budapest, the National Museum in Warsaw, the Saatchi Gallery in London. He was an artist-in-residence at the Cité des Arts Internationale in Paris and at the Salzburger Kunstverein, among others.
