This mid-career exhibition will shed light on the socially and politically engaged practice of Norwegian artist Lotte Konow Lund (b.1967).

Lotte Konow Lund has remained committed to drawing as a medium since graduating from Oslo National Academy of the Arts in 1997. In addition to a broad selection of drawings made over the past fifteen years, the exhibition includes a small selection of her seminal video works from the late 1990s and 200s that illuminate her artistic concerns. The drawings, as central to her thinking, including the Bredtveit project, a long term collaboration with the inmates of a local women’s prison, whom she teaches drawing. Together they explore concepts such as freedom, belonging, home, and power.

Konow Lund capture the convergence of the personal and the public, the individual and the universal and is known for her social critiques that extend beyond her drawings and into the public debate. Most recently she has garnered critical acclaim for Dagbøkene januar 2014 – februar 2016 (The Journals January 2014 – February 2016), published this year.

Lotte Konow Lund (b. 1967) lives and works in Oslo, Norway. She studied fine art at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts, where she currently is Associate Professor at the Art and Crafts Department. Working in a range of media, from drawing to video-performace, sculpture and text, she is investigating questions relatede to identity, gender, the artist´s role in society, and power structures.
